We like our Chapel so much we decided to build a replica of it and mount it on wheels as a float and put it in
Vincentown's Memorial Day Parade
To honor our nation's Servicemen and women
|
This is what we started with. That's Bruce over there thinking to himself, "That looks like I feel without my morning coffee..... DROOPY !" (That's Dave's "Nut Bus" Van doing the heavy pulling and keeping us entertained with great recorded music.) |
Here's Bruce again, measuring the length of the trailer. He decided..." Just what I thought, it's 1 and 3/32nds of an inch too long!" |
We finally got the trailer stiffened up and started mounting the prefabed church on it. That's Frank, taking his turn at supervising two highly skilled church fabricators, Buck and Warren. |
We got rained on, but the sun finally came out. That's our Master Carpenter, Buck, going into the Chapel to roust out all the workers who took a coffee break when it rained |
Here's our Senior Architect , Designer and Chief Hammer Slammer, Buck, figuring out last minute measurements. Right now he's wondering, "Where am I gonna put the Sauna and handball court in here?" |
Here's Buck again... He's got things all figured out now and is hoping the central airconditioner and indoor plumbing will arrive in time for the parade. (We DID manage to get most of the roof on before quiting time.) |
Here we are on the second assembly day having a conference. Dave says, "What do you think, Buck?' Buck says, "I dunno, what do you think , Warren?" Warren Says, "I dunno, What do you think, Bruce?" Bruce says, "I dunno, what do you think, Dave?" Then, they all say, "We good!" |
Buck (in red suspenders) is asking Bruce (no suspenders... his tool belt stays up without them) .. "Do you think the grass needs mowing back here?" |
A view of the south end of the float heading north.. |
Dave whispers to Bruce, "Let's nail this roof on while Buck is in there... hee, hee, hee." Bruce answers... " Okay, I'm for that!" |
Dave is saying, "Okay gang, let's put this under wraps. We don't want anyone copying our float before the parade tomorrow." |
Nite, nite.. 'Till tomorrow............. Oh, Oh .... Do you hear that? .... Sounds like someone snoring.... Has anyone seen Buck lately? ....... Naaaa. Couldn't be! |
Here are some photos of the float being built. Not shown here is the many hours spent by so many of the congregation who painted the replicas of the military flags used on the skirt of the float. Unfortunately, I have no photos of that phase of the project. If the reader has such photos and would like them shown here please send them to me at >>>edsplace13287@yahoo.com Thank you..... Ed

And here she comes! That's Dave driving his beautifuly decorated "Nut Bus" towing our Pride and Joy down Main Street being greeted by Southampton Township Mayor, Jim Young. |
Here she is, back home again, decorating our Chapel parking lot 'till the next time. Mayor Young remarked that if prizes were being awarded for the best concieved and built floats for this occasion our's would be up there at the top of the list.
A task well done by so many or our congregation to honor our servicemen and women. |
